Xuehua Xu has completed his Ph.D. from Tsukuba University, Japan, in 2002 and did postdoctoral studies in chemotaxis using model system Dictyostlium discoideum using state-of-art imaging technology to systematically monitoring GPCR mediated signaling pathways at National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. In 2006, shewas recruited to Georgetown University School of Medicine as the director of Dynamic Imaging in Microscope Imaging Shared Resources. Xu further expanded her research to understand macrophage chemotaxis in metastasis of breast cancer cell and also human neutrophil chemotaxis. She has published more than 30 papers in reputed journals and serves as an editorial board member of several journals and grant review committee.

The supramolecular nanoscale assembly group is a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and technical staff dedicated to understanding the underlying concepts of molecular recognition, self-assembly and self-organization processes, and utilizing this knowledge to advance the health and medical technologies, energy and environment, information and communication technologies, and nanomaterials sectors. The mission of our group is to (a) harness the properties and architecture of matter from the ground up through supramolecular synthesis, self-assembly and self-organization, (b) create new materials for application in sustainable energy generation, catalysis, nanoelectronics, and nanomedicine, (c) develop new technology platforms to address significant public health problems and meet current technological challenges, (d) train highly qualified graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and technical staff. Cancer Biology: The overall goal of our laboratory is to elucidate the mechanisms of metastasis in solid cancers. Ongoing studies include examination of the role of circulating tumor cell biology and epigenetics in the metastasis of solid cancers. Also, our laboratory is investigating the biological mechanisms underlying the racial disparities in specific solid cancers. The cancer models we are currently focused on are hepatocellular carcinoma, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, and prostate cancer.

This wide array of techniques allows the precise identification of neurons involved in specific aspects of motor behavior both in physiology and pathology.

Sulaiman Al-Zuhair is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at UAE University. Prior to joining UAE University, in 2006, Prof. Al-Zuhair worked as an Assistant Professor in the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, at Nottingham University, Malaysia Campus. He obtained his PhD in Biochemical Engineering, from the University of Malaya in 2003, his M.Sc. degree in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from University Putra Malaysia in 1998 and his B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology in 1996. Prof. Al-Zuhair is the author of a book titled: "Supercritical Fluids Technology in Lipase Catalyzed Processes". In addition, Prof. Al-Zuhair published two US Patents, 53 peer-reviewed journal papers, two book chapters, two papers in educational journals and 31 papers in conference proceedings. Majority of his research, which is funded by various funding agencies, is on the uses of enzymes in various industrial applications, specifically in biofuels production. Prof. Al-Zuhair is a member of the Editorial Boards of several international journals.

Amr Amin has completed his PhD at University of Illinois at Chicago, and received a post-doctoral training in the field of molecular genetics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He started his academic career at UAE University where he serves now as a Full Professor of Cell Biology. Amr’s research focuses on ways to control cancer, particularly liver cancer. Dr. Khalid Al-Anazi is a consultant hematologist and head of Department of Adult Hematology and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) at King Fahad Specialist Hospital (KFSH) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. He graduated from the College of Medicine, King Saud University (KSU) in Riyadh, in the year 1986. After passing his Boards in Internal Medicine, he trained in clinical hematology and HSCT at King’s College Hospital, University of London, U.K. He has 24 year experience in adult clinical hematology and HSCT at Riyadh Armed Forces Hospital then King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC) in Riyadh, King Khalid University Hospital (KKUH) in Riyadh and KFSH in Dammam Saudi Arabia. During his work at KFSH&RC in Riyadh, he looked after the first matched unrelated donor allogeneic HSCT and he contributed to the success and achievements of that institution in the years 2004 and 2005. He established the HSCT unit at KFSH in Dammam in 2010. He was selected as the best teacher in the department of internal medicine at KKUH & the College of Medicine, KSU in Riyadh in the year 2014. Also, he has 60 publications including retrospective studies, review articles, book chapters and electronic books and he reviews for 21 international medical journals in addition to being an editorial board member of 6 stem cell transplantation, hematology, cancer and infectious diseases journals.
